Theater View - Playing Now - Becomes Unresponsive
« on: December 17, 2015, 02:20:32 pm »

Dear JRiver Team.

I have JRiver 21 (latest stable build) running on Windows 7 SP1 64-bit. I am constantly having issues with playing audio (regardless of format) in Theater View. JRiver constantly becomes unresponsive. By unresponsive I mean it does the following:

- keeps playing audio and switching tracks
- however album art stops changing (if it's a playlist with songs from different albums)
- the position slider does not work anymore (does not change its position anymore)
- JRiver does not respond to any remote commands (Logitech Harmony remote)

To fix it, I need to grab a remote keyboard and press ESC key twice.
Then MC switches back to Standard view.
Pressing CTRL-4 initiates the Theater View again (back to default page).
Then it will do the same thing later on and on.
Sometimes is less frequent, sometimes more.

Can someone look into it and provide me with some guidance on how to fix it?
It's irritating.

Thank you in advance for help.

Do you have an nVidia graphics card?
If so it may be similar to a problem I have been having with Theatre View hanging, which is due to a bug with the later nVidia drivers and JRiver.
My solution was to downgrade my graphics driver to version 347.88, after which Theatre View works without hanging.
If relevant I would be interested to hear if this solves your issue too.

Hi thecrow.

Thanks for replying to my post.
Yes, I do have NVidia GeForce GTX960 with the 359.00 driver.
It seems there is a new driver available now from NVIDIA 359.06.
I don't remember what the initial driver version was but as far as I recall it never worked correctly.
Let me see if I can find 347.88 driver version.

I will let you know what the results are.
Thanks again.
