Hello to all of you!
I'm new on this forum, i own a Synology and i use-it to play music through USB interface to an Accuphase DAC 40, exactly like Alex F
Now, i would like to upgrade to an QNAP HS 251+ because it is much quiet and because i understood that JRiver is bit perfect.
I will not use HDMI in any way, the only purpose of the NAS will be (beside the storage) to play music via USB.
I want to ask you few questions:

a) how do i know if my DAC will be recognized by QNAP ?
b) it's there a chance that JRiver could be supported by synology in the future?
c) can i use a USB/SPDIF convertor with JRiver/QNAP (like the one here: http://audiophilleo.com/Audiophilleo2 )
d) how easy will be to install JRiver on HS 251+ ?

Thank you in advance for the answers !!!

Welcome to the fun.

Quickly and to the best of my knowledge ...

a) what's your DAC? Hard to guess on compatibility without detail.
b) one for the devs but anything is possible. Just a question of value and time.
c) I wouldn't know. The Qnap forum might offer answers if you draw a blank here.
d) I didn't find out too hard for a TS653. The key aspect is to remember to do the install with a monitor and keyboard connected. The guide on the qnap website does a pretty good job.

I suggest you run the above through a translator.

Yeah, sure but I think the smart move is install MC with keyboard and monitor. Check the QNAP website and app store for more details.

oyvindo:
Is there any way to control MC21 through a web interface?
The HD Station interface is useless unless you sit in front of a TV with a wireless mouse and keyboard.
There must be a way to access MC21 through <NAS_IP>:port#      ?

Anyone?
