G'Day folk.
While reviewing the results of the new xmltv_ns format Season and Episode number import functionality I found a lot of evidence of a problem that I had seen before, but had not been able to gather data on, or at least not had time. I kept one example recording that showed the problem, but I hadn't gotten around to investigating the cause. The example involves a recording of an episode of "Criminal Minds" which has the Title:Sub-title "Helen West:Criminal Minds". The content of the recording is in fact an episode of Criminal Minds. However, somehow the program title was saved as "Helen West", which I deduced is the title used for the series known as "The Helen West Casebook". The original program title (which is the series name) "Criminal Minds" was saved as the sub-title.
I had also seen similar occurrences with recordings of "Doctor Who", or in one case where the movie "A Beautiful Mind" was recorded as "Doctor Who:A Beautiful Mind". The interesting thing was that the correct program was being recorded in the case of both "Criminal Minds" and the movie "A Beautiful Mind", but the incorrect title was being used for display of the recording in Theatre View. So the "Criminal Minds" episode started a new series group named "Helen West", and the movie "A Beautiful Mind" was mixed in with my "Doctor Who" recordings.
I thought the problem was occurring when the recording was saved, but now I have found that the titles are being mixed up in the Guide, even though the XMLTV EPG file is correct.
So, I have collected five examples. I'll do one post for each example, and with each I will provide a text file with a summary of my observations about the problem in that example plus the section of the XMLTV file that created the EPG record in JRiver. I will also add between two and four screenshots showing the MC Guide with the error, at the overview and detail levels. I think that should be enough to understand the problem.
If more data is required Yaobing, please ask. I still have the original full XMLTV file if you want it, but it is 3.58MB so I won't attach it here.
First example in the next post.
EDIT: I forgot to mention, when I first used 20.0.21 to import xmltv_ns numbers and saw the problem, I cleared the EPG and re-ran the EPG collection and importing process, to make sure he problem wasn't something to do with left over EPG pieces. The result in the Guide was identical. I had also rebooted the HTPC after installing 20.0.21, as I always do, to make sure the new version has a clean start.
