QNAP JRiver for a complete novice

(1/2) > >>

sls:
I am not very computer-literate, so bear with me.

I have a PS Audio DAC Mk2 without a bridge and a TS451 QNAP. I have a SOTM bridge, which does the DNLA thing and outputs by usb to the DAC.

I use a macbook pro and have used JRiver for mac. I rather like it.

So I went into HybridDesktop Station and downloaded and installed JRiver. I assumed it would put an icon on the QTS from page. No such luck.

How do I access JRiver on the QNAP? Can I do it from my macbook?

Do I have to have the QNAP plugged into a a screen with an HDMI cable?

I just have no idea.

Many thanks

Hello, in fact you need to plug your QNAP to a monitor/TV through HDMI. When done :
>> you can launch JRiver (you need a linux or Master Licence) and setup the software
>> you can manage the setup through QRemote on iPhone/iPad or only pluging a keyboard/mouse to the USB of the QNAP.

It works well at home. My only issue is that the QNAP was not close to a HDMI monitor so I bought a DVDO HDMI transmitter (wireless) and no no issue to make evrything working fine.

What is clear is neither from qnap and JRiver there is a strong support on this topic.

Hope it helps.

JimH:
We're still learning how to support it.  Your help is much appreciated.

Patatorz:
Ok no problem

Hello,
Do you also need to connect a keyboard to the NAS?
If so, how do you do that remotely?
