Please enable editing of the Episode name when using the "Get Movie & TV Info..." function, in the same way that the Series name can be edited.

Done

Was this one really done, or was it mistakenly marked as Done? Because I am running the latest MC21 Beta and can't see the new functionality.
See original post for details.

Middle mouse click on a tab toggles between list and thumbnail display, or cycles thru all list styles for a given view.

Making it possible to offset subtitles so they are below the actual video, so they can be shown on top of the black bars in movies that are 1:2.35 instead of over the picture.

Good idea!

Coming next build:
NEW: Middle-click on a tab header will roll through the list styles.

On bluray rips with subtype "TV Show", sort titles by number instead of size.
Start playing the lowest numbered title over 15 minutes.

Thrilled that you are incorporating my middle mouse click on tabs idea... thanks!  Here is another one:

Allow “slow” double-click to initiate a rename for tree items – this renaming technique works for every other user named-field in all places on the standard view.

Before I sync my handheld, there is a handy Details and Options link in the action window:

However, after the sync is completed the links are replaced with Eject:

I'd like to request that the Details link remain alongside the Eject link even after the sync is complete. Often times I will start syncing playlists to my handheld while I am still making playlists to speed transfers (so the transfer can begin before I'm completely finished making the playlists). I often use the "Check Resync" on the handheld details page to refresh the tracks and begin a new sync while I am updating playlists. It's currently convoluted to get from elsewhere in the library to the handheld details page so I can resync and having that link always available to use would be a big help. My current solution is to utilize tabs but sometimes the tab assigned to the handheld details page will act funky if a handheld device is ejected and thus needs to often be recreated.

Additionally, after the sync is complete it makes sense conceptually to still have a "Details" links so you can see that all of the tracks were synced correctly (sometimes they will fail if you have for instance, a shoddy microsd card/reader, your directory structure is invalid, or your conversion format != supported format).

A click on an acronym or other terms that can be confusing, to go to a glossary with definitions, as some of us are trying to set this up and learn a new language (computerese) at the same time as setting up JRiver.  For example, RMCF, which I googled and found it to be Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.

A like button for comments, so the moderators can see if a question or comment has other people with the same question or comment.  I am finding there is a lot of repeated frustrations, and really would rather just like another comment rather than me reposting the same one again in a different way.

Wow… 2 for 2 on suggestion incorporation.  Let’s go for 3!

In all MS office apps, and in JRiver Theater View for that matter, you can increase/decrease the zoom level when you hold down the control button while scrolling the mouse wheel.  Add this same capability to standard view to easily increase/decrease thumbnail size.

(and yes, I do realize I can scroll the wheel over the thumbnail slider to accomplish this right now, but this would be even easier).

Done.  [3 for 3]

An option to turn pull down menu (background color) solid. Currently the pull downs are transparent/opaque and really hard to read from across the room (think 10ft view). When I click on "Tools" the pull down should contrast against the white screen instead of blending in to it.  Hope that makes sense!

Hi Matt & all @ JRiver,

Would it be possible to have the [Album Artist] field as linkable?

Kami

I'm not positive I know what you're talking about, but the Album Artist (auto) field already has a link in it (that searches for matches).

Is it possible you're just showing the Album Artist field instead of the Album Artist (auto) field?

Can you make the selected channel-program in TV Guide "stand out" more so it is easier to see what is currently selected?

In the screenshot below, it is not too hard to tell that "The Burbs" is selected in this example since the background is dark (I wanted to capture a screenshot with a lighter background to show the problem better but couldn't get one). A lot of times I find it hard to see which program/channel the selection currently at. It depends on the background image and skin, etc..

It would be nice to have the Text of the selected channel show in a different color, show as Bold test, or make the background of the selected program a different color.
Ideally this change would be an option (on/off) as some won't like it.

I would like a progress bar or some other kind of feedback in the Action Window when Copying or Moving files. Currently it happens with no visual feedback, and if the file is large, it can temporarily show up as missing in the library, which is confusing. Sometimes I don't realize MC is working and I close it, which breaks my library.

^ This is a long standing issue/request.  Some of us use alternate methods for moving large files, or large quantities of files because of this.  Unfortunately, I don't think this request is "too easy".  Too bad, because I'd enjoy that as a new feature.

If you'd like to discuss alternative techniques, start a thread on it and we can talk about it there..

Allow for the creation of particles based on a (non-contiguous) range of chapters, in addition to the present option of defining them by timecode ranges. Let's say I'm watching a TV series episode with six chapters: an introduction, opening theme, part 1, part 2, ending theme, and next episode preview. In this case, I would only be interested in chapters 1, 3, and 4.

Allow particles to be edited once created. Could be useful in case one wishes to duplicate a given particle to make minor changes.

Subordinate stack items appear unstacked every time MC is restarted. Not only that, but entering the context menu for stacks after discovering this shows the "stack" option greyed out and the "unstack" option active, indicating that MC still erroneously thinks they are stacked.

Allow for pre-selection (forcing?) of DVD/IFO/VOB subtitle tracks prior to playback. Unlike how it is when dealing with BDMV's and pretty much every notable container format, MC is currently incapable of "remembering" the last selected streams when dealing with DVD's or DVD's ripped in folder structure after playback has been stopped. Perhaps this can be done via a sidecar?

Can we get a "filmstrip" list view?

Same as a thumbnail view but it scrolls horizontally instead of vertically and the thumbnail size scales to fit the height of the view.

Done.

Add a check box option to "Use gapless for skipped track" in Options -> Audio. When I skip a track I don't want JRiver to crossfade it. (But I want it when it switches automatically after a song ends)

And you might want to take the Stop, Seek & Skip options in the Video Section as this is where it's mostly being used  (Especially The Jump behaviour...) I was looking for it the other day, knew it existed but couldn't find it for commercial skipping adjustment.

That one isn't real hard, but I don't really understand the point.

I like cross-fading.  I like cross-fading if I switch manually or I switch automatically.

If you can get 10 +1 votes we'll consider it.  Start a thread for it if you like.

Remove the "Would you like to resume from your last playback position?" prompt in theatre view and include an option to default to "Resume" or "Start from Beginning" somewhere in options. When controlling MC via a client, this prompt becomes unintuitive because the client has no known method to pass it. One must remote in or access the server directly to select whichever option.

Include some way for streams (audio, subtitles) to be selected via a client during playback.

When controlling MC via a client, this prompt becomes unintuitive because the client has no known method to pass it. One must remote in or access the server directly to select whichever option.

Options>General>Behaviour>Resume playback using bookmarks => set it to Automatic, then the message will never be shown. Also read this carefully: http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Bookmarking

Include some way for streams (audio, subtitles) to be selected via a client during playback.

EDIT: BTW, I can select Audio Streams and Subtitles on my Client via the On Screen Display (OSD) and by right clicking on the video playing and using the menu shown. Plus Ctrl-Shift-L toggles the Audio Stream.

Of course the video stream needs to have multiple Audio Streams in order to change the selection, and Subtitles must also be available. Also, as my Client can only play stereo, it doesn't matter whether I select 7.1, 5.1, or stereo AC-3, MC will always down mix and play stereo on the Client, as per my settings.

For Theater View Playing Now window, add mouse scroll capability to all elements of window (I almost never use a remote).  For example, when cursor is positioned over…

Done. Volume Slider:  Scroll increases/decreases volume.  Also Scroll+alt (or Scroll+shift) increases/decreases volume for cursor located anywhere in any Theater View window
Alternately, put Navigation/Volume control ICONS (not text for controls) on all Theater View windows (I realize this alternate idea probably does not meet the 1 hour of code time criteria)

Done. Track Position:  Scroll increases/decreases track position (per “Jump behavior” time increments specified in Audio settings)

Rating Stars:  Scroll increases/decreases star count

Done. Cover Art:  Scroll cycles thru display modes:  Cover Art, Bubble Fountain, Display View, and "Blank" (i.e. nothing obscures the Artist slide show)
Also request option to set default Playing Now default view to blank.  I hate always having to wait for the cover art to fade out whenever I navigate away and back to Playing Now (which is a lot!)

Thanks for your consideration!

I see you incorporated part of my last multi-suggestion post just now.  Thanks!  (I'll take that as win and that now makes it 4 for 4... Ha!)

Does that mean all the others suggestions are kaput, or are you still considering them?  Scrolling to cycle thru the display choices I especially favor - waiting for the cover art to fade-out is very irritating each time you navigate away and back, and I have to believe many others feel the same.  Your online media slide show is one of those standout features that really makes MC spectacular, and anything that gets in the way of that is a bad thing IMHO.

Ok, I'll stop lobbying now.  Thanks again for listening to your users... much appreciated.

Notify user that audio analysis is stuck and on which file. Not sure best way to notify (I'll leave that to you), but it *seems* to be a problem I'm experiencing and I have too many files to guess what it is.

Add an option to find missing tracks or make MC21 smarter at finding them if the filename wasn't changed and still in the monitored library folders...Or offer the option to manually try to find it.

As an example if a file has been relocated in a different folder outside MC and the filename wasn't changed MC should find it.  If not then prompt the user to try to relocate it. (That's probably the only thing Itunes does well...)

Even if I make that change within MC on one PC it won't reflect on another PC and create duplicate files that I have to manually delete and re-associate.
(I know several ways of doing this in MC  but wish it was a one step process)
Library backup/restore not an option either as library contents are different except for music on other PCs.
thx

In Theater View, selecting a show from TV guide brings up the show summary & other metadata with options to watch, record, etc.  You then have to click watch to watch the show.  This is totally non-intuitive to me, that is, when I select a show from the guide, I expect it to immediately play the selected show (which is how every electronic guide I have ever used works).

But recognizing that many users may like the current behavior, I request that a right (or middle click) launches the selected show immediately.  This way you have instance access to either the show or info/options depending on the mouse button clicked.

In Display View, the Player Bar shows instantly when the cursor touches a screen edge (which is great).   However, there is a 1 second delay before the Player Bar auto-hides again after moving the cursor off the Bar.
Propose that the Player Bar auto-hides the instant the cursor moves off it.  I am unable to think of a single advantage of having a delay, even an admittedly short one.

Options>General>Behaviour>Resume playback using bookmarks => set it to Automatic, then the message will never be shown. Also read this carefully: http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Bookmarking

Hey, this worked! Thank you! :D

This, however, doesn't. Going to my client and using the OSD doesn't give me any streaming options.

To clarify, the client is basically just being used as a remote control for the server, which is what truly handles the playing of all the media. The client is not being used to play the media itself.

Hopefully a simple one....

3D BD rips should go into the "Ripped BD Video" folder not the "Other Videos" folder (I realise these need to be mkv for playback but it seems convenient to rip a copy of the disc for backup purposes)

Done.

Add an option to find missing tracks or make MC21 smarter at finding them if the filename wasn't changed and still in the monitored library folders...

MC does this with "update for external changes".  This works *inside* MC's auto import folders.

Quote
As an example if a file has been relocated in a different folder outside MC and the filename wasn't changed MC should find it.  If not then prompt the user to try to relocate it.

That's a totally different case, and I think this is a terrible idea.  When I move things out of MC's auto import folders, it's on purpose.  I don't want MC scanning to try to find them.  That's intrusive and counter to MC's design.

If you have some concrete problem that makes this happen, please start a new thread to discuss it.  Since technically, I'm not even supposed to be responding to this here! :) (no discussion in this thread)

Brian.

Part of the requirements in these threads are that the change be non-controversial, so I think it's worth noting if a proposed change would break your workflow or mess up a use case.  I'm on the same page as you Brian, I'm not sure what this adds that a combination of fix broken links and update for external changes wouldn't fix right now, and it would have some potential negatives too.

Request:
Make the "Repeat", "Shuffle", and "Audio Path" icons/links visible on the Player Bar so they can be used/accessed when in "Full Screen" Display View.

Explanation:
When you are in Display View (say listening to a Playlist) and you move the mouse to the top of the screen to make the Player Bar visible, the icons/links for the "Repeat, Shuffle, or Audio Path" are not available. You have to switch to "Window Mode" to see/use these icon/links.

It looks to me like there is enough space on the Player Bar (in Full screen mode) to just move these three icons/links up under the "Windowed Mode and Close" icons/buttons rather than, as currently placed, on the same line as the position bar. Or don't move them, just make them visible in Full screen mode if that is easier.

Thanks

This depends on the skin designer I think, as there are skins that have those elements on the Display View Player Bar.  There may be others, but I just confirmed that Aruba, Fusion X, Onyx, and PixOS all have what you are looking for right now.

Thanks for pointing that out. I'm using Noire. I also tried Noire Glass - which has the same problem (doesn't show the links).

So perhaps Devs could fix this for Noire - if it's a small change.

I agree but you can just press the PLAY button on the remote (not Ok/select) once it is highlighted and it will start playing that channel live without going to the show summary info page.

Thanks for the info... I did not know that.

Unfortunately, I almost never use a remote control.  My HTPC is also my CAD workstation and general use computer, so I am using my mouse virtually 100% of the time to operate MC, which is why all my suggestions are mouse driven.
