Am I getting DTS-MA or just DTS core?
« on: February 03, 2016, 12:40:26 pm »

I run discrete audio out via an 8 channel card (Lynx AES-16) for my BluRay rips. I have the classic DTS DLL installed. My playbaks say DTS-MA on the menu. But as I now understand this may only be DTS core and not true DTS-MA.

How do I verify I am outputting DTS-MA..

Again I am not bistreaming. I am outputting 8 discrete audio channels from JRiver. So JRiver is decoding the DTS.

You don't need said DLL anymore, its now handled without needing any external components.
So yes, you should get full DTS-HD MA

If its a 8 channel file, its easy - check if the audio path says 8 channel input, core would only be 6.

The Audio Path dialog will list dts-ma as the source format when it is being decoded:

Too bad you can't see that "audio path" popup when playing a movie.

Sure you can, if you're in Playing Now. See my screenshot above. You mean while in Display View?

Oh, your right.
I was  hovering the mouse at top of screen to bring up the Play Window in "maximize screen view" (and the View audio Path option doesn't show). But when I go to "minimize-windowed view", then the "Repeat", Shuttle" and "Audio Path" options show. Thanks.
