Convert Video for old Android phone ... quality?
« on: February 08, 2016, 05:04:04 am »

Hi All,

I have pressed an old HTC Desire into service as a video phone for the daughter.  128GB memory card.

I want to transfer a load of vids many of which are gigabytes big.

What conversion properties should I use to reduce the file size?

The phone has VLC player, so format is not an issue.

Thanks for any suggestions.

The original HTC Desire has a 480x800 pixel screen, so for the best quality you could convert to "MP4 480p AutoFPS", which would be a perfect fit for the screen resolution, or if you want to save more space and sacrifice a bit more quality, there is MP4 240p as well.
One hour of video using "MP4 480p" is about ~650mb. 240p would be about a third of that. We don't currently have any preset in between.
