Album cover quality - Sonos
« on: February 25, 2016, 11:30:37 am »

I'm "casting" to a Sonos Connect from MC21 some flac files and everything is flawless expect the image quality of the album cover in the Sonos apps is very low.

The album cover is being compress and resized at some point. Is there a way to boost this quality somewhere in the MC's settings?

Thanks.

I am not on a PC at the moment, so cannot check it exactly, but as I recall there is a setting to send larger album art: Probably in MC Settings, DLNA server, Advanced (I think)..

I'm using the Generic DLNA profile.

Image mode: Original with present small artwork at off in advance settings.

Still low quality covers.

Hmm.

The DLNA specs REQUIRE only one size to be sent (I think 300x300) but they ALLOW smaller sizes and larger sizes to be sent also. However some renderers assume that only the required kind is present, so they always only use that.

Apparently the Sonos is one such renderer. It is in fact on their own admission not DLNA compliant.

There are other renderers that are even more cute. e.g. some just use whichever size that is presented first in the list...

I'm pretty sure that what I'm seeing is smaller than 300x300. I know that Subsonic can also interact with Sonos and the covers are looking good from that software. Hopefully we'll find what's going on. Thanks.

Got it! I had to turn PS3 compatibility on.

As found in this thread: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=92822.0

Thanks.
