Cover Art request
« on: August 19, 2003, 06:35:02 am »

MC is getting better and better. However, I miss a feature I asked some time ago and it would help me during my daily experience with MC... Other people also asked for it.

I store my cover art in the same folder where the album is stored, and the filename is called folder.jpg. This is the way XP likes to be, and MC supports it for displaying the image. However, MC is not able to import the cover art and store it just that way. MC always stores the image in "image location" folder. So here is what i need to do:

-Get the cover art from internet
-Open Explorer and locate "image location" folder
-Cut the recently imported image
-Locate the album folder on disk (external)
-Paste the image
-Rename it as "folder.jpg"
-Remove Cover Art to the album
-Quick Find in File /Cover Art Directory

You can see all the work involved in order to store the image in the album's folder.

Could that be an option?

I am currently planning a plugin to do just that.  I have just been asking for advice in the development thread on how to get started and then I was going to knock something up.  Stay tuned!!

GREAT Adam!
One request . . .  can it be an option as to whether the cover art file is moved to the album folder or just copied?
I prefer to save it in both places (don't ask why ... just accept that I am in therapy   :P   )
Seriously though, I would like the choice of having it in both locations, I can always delete/empty the cover art folder later and I am not bothered by the HDD space being used.

I was planning only to copy it.  Would you prefer move as an option to or stick with just copying?

Ok 0.0.5 is up i tested it on one file and it worked.

if checked and when it finds cover art it will save the art in the default cover art folder and in the same folder the media file is in.

Yes

Or "folder.gif" if the file that was found was gif, not sure if that works but thats what i did.

basicly

if the file is

c:\My Music\Beatles\White Album\Hello.mp3

the program will find the first "\" in a rev string search this will then be the path of the album

C:\My Music\Beatles\White Album\folder.jpg

should be the result
