I am redesigning my setup so that 2 MC machines in as small form factor and as quiet as possible are my players of which one is the server from where I manage the MC library (rip and tag) and is connected to the media. The media would be in a separate box which I'd prefer was not a nas or PC but rather some kind of DAS via esata or hardware NAS ( to limit OS and general complexity). I use a 5 disk box and esata right now but have no expansion capacity and the living room looks like a server centre (WAF issues emerging!)
My uncertainty is how to connect. I want to be able to playback 3d blu ray and eventually 4k 3d. Will a gigabit network handle this? I'm not sure.
Also I'm guessing a separate graphics card with a fan is still needed to deliver playback via ROHQ. but I'm unsure if this is needwd for the 3d stuff or for upscaling SD DVD content.
Any sage advice really appreciated!
