Import Mp3's from external CD on demand
« on: August 17, 2003, 02:55:42 pm »

Is it possible to "import" mp3's from external cd's into media center, then have media center prompt for them when the file is needed for buring or playing?

Media center would copy file into a temp hd or into a desiginated directory for playing or burning.

I have many CD's full of mp3's and would like to have a database of what they are. When I want to make a cd, I would just pick from the database, the songs would be copied to and I could burn or listen to these songs.

Possible?

thanks

From KingSparta:

yes, just use Windows Explorer to Copy them to what ever drive you want, then you will need to change the Read Only Bit (since they are coming from A CD) and then reimport them into MJ8 when you have done that.

Works the same with MC.
Instead of Explorer ,you can use MC to copy files to your hardrive

I know the importing of files into a database would be no problem for MC. But my question is once I click on the mp3 to play it, will MC actually ask me to insert the CD, copy the mp3 to a folder and "play it", or does it simply play it from the CD?

In a perfect scenario, MC would have options to

1. play from CD
2. copy to folder X

I don't want to do any manual copying via explorer.

Does this still fit into the "yes it can do this".

thanks!  ;D
