Hi,
I wonder how I can move art work files together with music files when they are stored in the same folder? When using the Rename, Move, Copy Files tool there is an option 'Move all files (including non-imported files)' but as I understand imported files are ignored. So when you like me store art work in the same folder as the music they will be left alone and therefore subjects for a manual transfer. Which I think feels quite like a waste of time...

So I wonder, couldn't there be an additional option to include the connected art work in the transfer?

There are three ways:

1. Use the File Explorer section under Drives & Devices in the Tree to move the files.

2. Make a View that shows both your audio and image files in the same view, and select them all and do it at once. By default, MC only shows Audio files under the Audio Media View (and so on and so forth). However, that's just a filter on the top-level Audio view, and it can be overridden. You can either make a new "Advanced" top level Media View that shows all file types, or you can make a sub-view of the Audio section, and deselect the Use parent scheme rules for file display option for that View, and it will no longer inherit the filters of its parent Views.

3. Don't import the auxiliary files.

But I still have difficult to understand why cover art couldn't be included in the move. After all, they have the name of the album artist and the album and could quite easily be identified as "original cover art" connected/bounded up to the album according to the standard setting in MC.

So because of MC offer this option to store cover art in the music folder, why shouldn't MC consider that when using the rename/move/copy tool?

For me as a user it seems quite logic and user friendly...

Humbledore, I agree.  Although I'm very happy that "move all files" became available in the first place it's not entirely logical

There are 2 ways around it that I use (one of which glynor didn't mention)

1. Don't import images or ancillary files.  This is easiest to achieve by using an "incoming" folder that is image free, then moving into the main library using the RMC.  My incoming folder ONLY sees flac and mp3, nothing else gets in

2. Tag all the ancillary files with album and artist the same as the album itself.  This is most easily achieved by CTRL-C,  CTRL shift V to paste tags only

If the files have the same album and artist tags they will move.

I'd love for this to be a bit more intuitive but at the same time it's forced me into a workflow (incoming folder) that is much better anyway.  All in all the change saved me months of work moving tens of thousands of albums into a complete new structure (yay JRiver thanks!), it just took some getting used to

Not really an option, but something to mention, but if you save in the file itself the cover image becomes only useful for external programs (and many will read the internal file).  I save logs and booklets etc so it's not useful for me but if you're a cover art only guy, it may be worth saving to the file and to a separate directory (cover art) and not worry about them at all

I'll consider your ways even if these kind of workarounds still feels a bit non-user friendly. I don't like the idea that a regular user should figure out this for himself...
