Boost volume during file sync...
« on: May 14, 2016, 11:37:51 am »

I play mp3’s on my car’s audio system using a USB drive. I use MC’s sync function to populate the drive. The issue I have is volume. I find I have to boost the volume significantly on my car’s audio system to achieve the desired level for in-car listening. My car’s audio system doesn’t appear to recognize any embedded DSP settings. So I need a way to boost the volume during the sync process…

Is there a way to achieve this using MC?

Enable the DSP (these settings are separate from your normal DSP settings) in the handheld sync conversion options and use the parametric eq to boost the volume.

Thanks for taking the time to respond…

Are you referring to Options – Handheld? If so, all I see is the option to apply volume leveling. The Wiki infers this capability, but I can’t figure out how to invoke it…

First, select your Handheld, and go to Options.  Then:

Conversion > Audio > Apply DSP > (checked)
Conversion > Audio > DSP Settings ... > (make your changes here)

Are the Mac and Windows versions different?

Are you doing this from a Client MC machine that talks to an MC server?  That might be the difference.

Otherwise, I thought the handheld sync dialogs were identical on Mac and Windows.  You are using MC21 I think, so it shouldn't be a version difference.

And there’s the rub…

Glad you thought of that. Never even occurred to me.

Thanks!
