Would you please advise.
I just noticed this particular JRiver setting (haven't tried yet) 
and/or does Core automatically have this set and no reason to check the JRiver box.

Is there a sonic difference if this is used. There hasn't been much chatter about this in awhile.

Give it a try.  Some DACs support it; others don't.  If your DAC does not support it, you'll get lots of dropouts in the sound or maybe complete silence.  So you'll know right away if your DAC is compatible.

As for the sonic benefits, I have no idea.  Try it and see! (I mean... hear)
