I do not understand how the Search Box works at the top of this forum.

I enter search text (for example "64 bit") and I only get two results, both links to Windows 64 bit questions, but nothing on the post from yesterday on "64 bit audio" (this thread http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=105144.0).

Is there some Boolean text-formula I need to use (like "64+bit" or "+64 +bit -Windows")? What location/forum is searched (just the "Media Center 21" forum")?

Is the Search feature broken?

You probably know this already, but for the best results use Google:

64 bit site:jriver.com

Or use the Advanced Search:
https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?action=search;advanced;search=

That's nice because you can limit by username and stuff.

The search box directly on the forum pages does some kind of fuzzy search thing that I don't fully understand.

This seems to work better for me on Google: 64 bit site:yabb.jriver.com

^ You miss the wiki that way, but maybe you're only interested in the forum.

Sure, I use the Google Search and the Wiki Search a lot (100%) - but what is the purpose of the Search Box at the top of forum?

It doesn't seem to do a very good searching, unless I am misusing it. Is this a JRiver controlled/built search feature or something from the creators of forum software (PhpBB or whatever is used)?

If it is not going to produce good search results it should be removed, IMO - as this is a "support forum" so people come here searching for answers (if they use the Search Box at the top, they won't find their answer and then they have to post their question).

It is part of the SMF forum software. I don't know for sure, but I think there is very limited control over how it behaves.
