Noisy BR drive and the settings for drive will not be saved
« on: March 12, 2016, 01:27:36 pm »

jrmc Version. 21.0.50

I have a LG BR burner in my htpc. (BDR LG Electronics BH16NS55 Disc Writer SATA)
When playing a Audio CD jriver is buffering audio data at beginning of each track.
This causes much noise, so I tried to:
- reduce reading speed to 1x (under CD-Options, but it impacts only for ripping, I think)
- lowered prebuffering to 2 secs (under Audio/Settings)

no impact...

Found more settings in the audio-area of the options.
changed:
- audio/advanced/...configure input plug-in... => CD audio input plug-in: CD read speed to 1x and use jitter correction

But theses settings will not be saved. If I review the settings after saving, they are back on max read speed again.
How to change and store these settings? Is it a bug? I think so, but found no way to inform jriver.

Any suggestions?  ?
a) Which options do I have further more to reduce reading noise of the drive while playing CDs?
b) How to save the changed options?

Thanks a lot?  :)

Consider ripping your CDs instead.  That's where the power of MC really shines; digital music as files.

Yes, sure.
But I won't rip ALL of my CD's and sometimes it happens that I just like to throw a CD from a friend inside, just without ripping.

Yes, I also have this problem on my Asus BD drive when using JRiver.
Even if I set the drive speed to "slow and quiet" in AnyDvd, which works fine for DVDs and Blu-Rays, JRiver seems to over-ride this on CDs, causing them to spin at the drive's full speed until the entire track is buffered.  This does not happen in other programs, so must be a bug in JR Media Center. Unfortunately I have to use alternative software to listen to CDs played directly in the drive.

Let's hope the developers can look into this and make their excellent player even better.

Hello again,

is there still nobody with any solution?
What about the admins?
Are there any planned improvements, maybe in the new Version?
