New User Questions...Just a few
« on: August 04, 2003, 07:59:43 am »

Hi,

I have a new 3G iPOD (30GB, WinXP).  I've been using MMJB to manage my MP3's and add my MP3's to my iPOD.  Can I use Media Center 9 instead of MMJB.  How's the transition (rate easy to difficult).  All of the EDIT TAGS established in MMJB will they "carry over" to Media Center 9?

Final question, I'd like to record the audio from DVD's (concert DVD's) and convert them to a format (MP3) to play on my iPOD.  Is that possible?  I have a laptop/notebook for my home computer, what additonal purchases do I need to make to capture the audio from the DVD.

Sorry for being sooo wordy.  I'm in my 30 day trial and I must tread swiftly before I purchase  ;D

Disk writer output in MC - not sure if it'll write the audio to disk - never tried it.

rip the dvd - then take off the audio.

Concerning Music Match tags.
It is ok ,less 2 problems:
'Note' tags are not show in MC
But Bios are show.
Look like any WMA format getting ArtSleeve from MusicMatch are not show in MC.
It can be a VERY upsetting problem ,but cannot be one with your Ipod who is only MP3  player

Concerning rip music from DVD.
You can use MC Recorder .
Negative : more diffilcult to set 'Volume level 'than others programs.

Positive: when 'volume level' set ,you get MUCH BETTER sound than any other programs.
With recorder :
you can set format to be rip to
you can enter tracks names and numbers before you rip
You can set MC Recorder to stop/restart at each songs if you set timing of the songs-- not to easy to do if you rip a Live DVD.

To make short , you would get ,BY FAR the best result using MC if you want to rip 'sound' from DVD.

Because it is kind of work ,if you i will test some rip to APE , test convertion to different formats and , according to what you find good to you ,rip to this format.
If you do not have any Mp3 player ,Mp3 IS NOT the best format to use.
OGG or MPC are.
If you want a lossless format ,Ape or Windows 9 lossless are the way to go

For DVD, see this.

With DVD-Decryptor and BeSweet (inc the GUI), you can do excellent quality rips/conversions. All are free! :)

Xing
Not that i dream to be not nice to you since i saw your picture on the LEFT  of your OT post....

But ,look like  what  he wants the soundtrack of a DVD
Like Hendrix Monterey , Neil Young live at Xen's House  .
In this case ,he can do it with MC Recorder.

And ,unlike as i said , because he has a Ipod ,straight away to MP3

In this case ,try to go beyond the time  you may need to master Recorder.
Like you ,i like to 'listen' to my DVD - all of them except Dylan 'Don't look back'; are  live concert DVD.
If i want to be fair ,as a very average user, yes to master and set  Recorder is a little more tricky than other softwares.
But ,just try some of them ,and listen to the Recorder results.........
You will  understand what i mean
