with separate libraries can the same files have different ratings?

I'd like to set up a separate library for my girlfriend (right now she just has a User account in my library). I'm curious if we import some of my rips into her library (so sharing a central file pool), will she be able to rate them (1-5 stars) independent of my ratings? Or will those ratings be written to the flac file and therefor update to her ratings when I go to load my library? Thanks.
