Media Editor Help

Im having trouble downloading the plug-ins for the Media Editor, if I try to open one of my media formats like .avi or .mpeg, it trys to establish a connection to download the plug-ins to play these files but it stops straight away.  Is there a way that I can fix this or is there a site were I can download the Media Editor Plug-ins?

Media Editor won't work with video files.  It's only an audio editor.
