Compilation albums appear with multiple thumbnails in Albums gallery

I agree with the poster.  I like JRiver for its many capabilities but it the failure to address compilation albums like every other media software is stunning.  With Windows Media Player, if I have multiple album tags, I simply drag and drop to combine albums. I have spent hours posts and trying to figure this out and I'm ready to give up. If there is a tag for [Album Artist], I sure as hell can't find it.

I'm not the only one who has this problem as I have seen a number of YouTube videos where 15 thumbnails of the same album are displayed.  It's not user error, it's software designer error. JRiver needs to wake up and fix this problem!!!

G'Day Ted.

I see you are pretty new to JRiver MC, joining the forum on January 5th. So you are on the steep part of the learning curve. I'm afraid we all have to go through that, as MC is a very powerful and flexible system, so it takes a while to learn and get used to, even some of the basics.

I also see that Brian is helping you over on your other thread, here: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,108783.msg753398.html#msg753398
Stick with what Brian is telling you. He will steer you correctly.

Brian has already given you the correct reference for the Album Artist field, here: https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Album_Artist_and_Album_Artist_(Auto)
He has also pointed out how to use the tagging window at the left of MC, opened by clicking "Tag" in the "Action Window" at the bottom left.
You may also want to look at making the "Album Artist" tag visible in the views you are using. Just right click on any Column Heading in a view and you will see a list of tags available to add to the view. Select/Tick "Album Artist" and it will be added to the view. Click outside the list to close the list. You can drag and drop the Column Heading left or ight to change where any tag is positioned in the view.

Search the Wiki for explanations of Views, and how to customise them.

PS: If MC worked the same way as every other media software, how could it be better?

RUNNING VERSION 22.0.77

Hello Sorry I'm lost
Edited all the tags manually to get the same Album name, same Album Author, same year etc.,   but as you can see the album is still displayed as multiple thumbnails under Albums page.......
ONLY HAPPENS with some albums, I have other albums with multiple authors, same setting and all the thumbnails are melted fine,  only have this problem with 3 albums....

I'm trying to find the differences between the ones that works fine and the ones that fails but there are not differences, I do not see why some albums are not melted.

How JRiver works Should I rename the files, (do not think so)   btw all the files are inside the same folder.

Se below screen capture and my TAGS editions.

Read the wiki, and other forums commenting about this issue, but man really do not have any idea.

Thank you

EDIT SOLVED

After click on show all TAGS, I realize that JRiver displays 2 Album Artist TAGS, (the tag is duiplicated), for any reason MP3TAG edited just one and the other one was displaying the track artist   edited to VA both tags (in JRiver) and the Album was merged !!!!!!!!

JRiver gets this right so often, that when it gets it wrong, I find myself not remembering how to fix it and have to go search... So for those who are having the problem and came here by search...

The (absolutely correct) instructions to select all the duplicate albums, then select "Tag", opens up a panel on the left. Album Artist may say (Varies). Put the album artist you want into that field, hit enter.

Note that JRiver may not update immediately (combining them all immediately) if your library is very large. People may think it didn't get fixed if it didn't update immediately. That thought goes through my head every time.

Click the "Refresh" button. It will then update.
