DLNA server - Date
« on: January 03, 2017, 03:03:58 pm »

Hello,

Using JRemote most of the time with MC 22, but for some technical reasons, I must also use BubbleUpnp and also some integrated DAC Web Interfaces (ONKYO).
This is MC in an Audio only configuration.

Using BubbleUPnP, or the ONKYO interfaces (WEB or Receiver), I have the configured the DNLA server on MC and all is working fine except that there's no "Date" root category. When I go to "Album" or "Genre", the date "sorting" does not work (grey box saying "Invalid / no date" or something similar). All meta data is here and dates showing / sorting is working fine either with Asset or MinimServer.

I'm trying to get rid of the other DNLA libraries and centralize everything only using MC but this date issue is really a pain.

Can anybody help?

Thanks!

I think there is a setting somewhere where you can customize the MC DMS browse tree. It's probably under Network / DLNA (or possibly under Remotes)..

Andrew,

Oh... I did not realize the DNLA server view was built onto the same mechanism as MC views... So yes, there's a way to add / customize the view in Option / Media Network / Add or Configure DNLA Servers / ... Customize View ...
So I added the "Date" item (see attached date_1.png). But in 3 DNLA programs (date_2.png & Date_3.png & Date_4.png) there are no dates found ("unassigned"). So it is clearly not a DNLA program issue.
But browsing down to the album, it shows the date correctly (date_5.png)

In MC, I have no problem at all showing and sorting by the dates... Could it be some kind of OS date format / DNLA standard display format ? It is very easy for anyone to reproduce what I am trying to achieve...

Thanks you.

OH......!!!!!! Yes. It is following the tags of the file.
Its works now much better with an expression like FormatDate([date,0],year)...
Still have a few things to sort out, but you put my brain back to the right track. Thank you!
