mpc playback lets pc crash
« on: July 20, 2003, 02:41:32 am »

I encoded some mpc files with EAC. When I try to play them in MC9.1 (Rel. 217) it not only let's MC9 stand still but also my PC (Pentium IV, 2.4 GHZ).

Used output format EAC:
D:\WAV\mppenc\mppenc.exe   (User Defined Encoder)
                    32 kBit/s
                    Additional command line options :  --quality 8 --xlevel --ape2 --artist "%a" --title "%t" --album "%g" --releasedate "%y" --track "%n" --genre "%m" --comment "ARSNova, rip by Grunge / EAC + mpcenc 1.1 q7" %s %d

What's wrong???

Hi Chris,

I do a lot of MPC encoding with both EAC and MC9 with  --xtreme setting and I have never had a problem playing  back those files with MC9.

One thing to notice though: Your EAC command line seems very long. I mean that with some titles and albums it might exceed what EAC can pass thru to the encoder (think it's around 256 char) but in that case you wont get any mpc output.

Can you tell us more on what's happening when you're trying to play an mpc file on MC ? does it crash it all ?

What OS are you using ? you can send your system configuration with Help/System Info..

have a nice day
