Id and SHOUTcast
« on: February 20, 2017, 03:10:41 am »

Dear all

having successfully setup the Id, I wonder how I can get access to audio/connected media
e.g. internet radio like SHOUTcast or tunein.

Remote desktop shows attached screen.

When accessing with JRemote "connected media" isnīt shown at all.

What would be the samrtest way to add my favourite internet radio stations (e.g. my tunein favourites) to the menu?

Thank you,
Frank

The Id doesn't have an inbuilt browser to be able to add items to connected media, so the best way to do what you're after is to open the direct stream URL using File > Open URL, then save the resulting "Playing Now" files (the server locations) as a playlist.

You can then access the playlist.

Justin,

thanks , that worked!!

In remote desktop it does not allow to paste the URL. CTRL V also impossible. It s a little bit tedious to type my 30 favourite webradios  all by hand. Maybe  I m missing something here.

Cheers

You're not missing anything, but thankfully there is a way around it...

From the Shoutcast site, download the XPSF playlist file onto the id itself.

Then on the id, use File > Import Playlist to import the XPSF file.

It should show up under Playlists > Imported Playlists on the MC tree.

Welcome aboard, by the way :-)

Great,  Justin

this one worked as well.

As not all of my favourite stations are covered by SHOUTcast, a little detour was necessary to get a playlist file from an URL.
First I had to open the location in my desktop with foobar2000.
Then save the stream as playlist directly into "IdJriver/internal storage/media"

Like this , my Id works fine for me!

When mentioning JRiver Id to some of our loudspeaker customers , they mentioned to use streaming services. as they have subscribed to Tidal, Qobuz etc.
I am aware, that there is no official integration (licensing issues etc.).
But maybe there is a similar way like the one with integrating playlists? Or do we have to wait for a browser on JRiverId to get this done?

Thanks
Frank

First of all a caveat: I don't use an id and I don't know what the warranty restrictions cover / don't cover.

Saying that, if you can can install a browser EXTERNAL to MC on the id, and get access to a terminal, there IS a way. It's not EASY, but nor is it rocket science. And it works.
