UPNP server super slow problem
« on: March 14, 2017, 07:50:50 am »

Hello

I had my music server running from JRiver on a little dell OptiPlex with windows 10, core i3 and 8 gigs of ram. This computer was actually pulling music from a network source and dishing it out. Everything worked fine

It occurred to me to run JRiver from the network source directly for UPNP. This is a dell precision tower with a faster core i3 and 8gigs of ram. My thinking was server with music together lots of sense.

Only its dead slow, like unusable. ON my naim uniti player I can see and pull up the share but it takes about 3 minutes to load it all into memory. I can the pick and play music ok, but if my iPhone with the control point goes to sleep it then has to reload the music again. Everything is running like treacle.

The only difference I can really tell is the first server was win 10 and the new server is windows server 2008

Is JRiver not really compatible with 2008?

Windows Server OSes are not officially supported, especially in core mode. So your mileage may vary.

Ah ok, I think I might move it to windows 10 at some point.
