Feature Request: M-S decoding (mid-side)
« on: December 04, 2016, 05:56:18 am »

Hi,

there is the good feature m-s encoding in the EQ section.
It would be nice if there is also an m-s decoding feature there.
In combination of this 2 you can make a chain where you can e.g. edit the stereo width if you lower the right channel volume in the m-s domain, even frequency selevtive with an EQ.
This is a function of e.g. Acourate convolver (AcourateFLOW) and also a linux based convolver called ConvoFS (feature is LoCo).
I used this in the time where I have Acourate convolver in use, but whith JRiver now it would be very nice to also have the option to do this in a discrete way.

I think it is an easy to implement feature, not for so much peaple from interest but for some like me a big upgrade in sound editing possibility to improve my listening experience.

Thanks and best wishes to the JRiver Team,
Erich

Hi

Could you also make the channels for mid-side encoding and decoding configurable (for use with active setups)?
I had to make my own encoder using the basic DSP functions
