Controlling a Teac NT-503 Streaming Media Player

The Teac is an amazing sounding piece of gear with 2015-era smartphone apps (whose functionality/ease-of-use date back to 2010) to control playback.  Has anyone here used a Windows tablet w/Media Center, plugged into the Teac's USB port on the back panel, to control playback of MP3 files through their home stereo?  Is this even possible? I've written to Teac several times about their Android and iOS playback applets - they just don't seem to care that their $1000 MRSP streaming media player is saddled with horrible software :(
