MC22 License lost with replacement motherboard - Why?

(1/1)

Rizlaw:
My main computer's motherboard died after 8 yrs of non-stop service. Fortunately, my lifetime warranty entitled me to a brand new motherboard.

After installing the new motherboard, new DDR4 RAM and a new i7 6850, MC22 says my "trial" period is over. I have a full MC22 license. Downloading a new "mjr" license file is simple enough, but I'd like to know what triggered my original license file becoming invalid. The Linux OS was not changed apart from updates to the OS in the month the system was down waiting for new parts.

Thanks.

Awesome Donkey:
Registration is likely tied to several things, including the motherboard, hostname, etc. If one of these changes, it automatically invalidates the installed registered MC.

Windows itself can do the same thing when changing the motherboard, actually.
