Problem Playing 24bit 96Khz 6 channel Output format
« on: April 22, 2017, 03:22:51 pm »

Good Afternoon,
I extracted a DVD audio and now I have 6 channel 24 bit / 96Khz .wav, but I cannot get play the 6 channel (it only plays two channel).
System is Windows 7 / JRiver going to USB DAC.
Every time I start the player it shows " Automatically Configure Output Format", " Playback could not be started using the format 96Khz, 24 bit, 6 channel", "Would you like to have your DSP Studio Output format setting change automatically?"
I click on "Change Settings and Configure Playback", but I still get 2 channel PCM only.

The number of channels in JRiver is set to the "As Source".

What should I do in order to get 5.1 when I have 6 channels? I'd like to get the same number of channels as source.

many thanks

1.  Do you have a multichannel USB DAC?  If yes, you might need to load an ASIO driver for it to operate in multichannel.
2.  Consider setting output to 5.1 for more reliable results.

I have an Emotiva XMC-1 (it is multi-channel).
I set the JRiver to 5.1 but it reverts back to 2 channel.
I think you're correct and the issue is with my USB DAC. I cannot get my laptop to recognize that DAC and I think it just plays 2 channel by default.
I'll work on that and I will give you an update soon.
Many thanks for your help.

Are you sure the USB connectivity of that DAC is truely multichannel capable? I've seen various HDMI receivers offer this, but only for stereo - and for multi-channel capability, you would then need to use the HDMI connection.

Its one of my pet peeves with those devices really, it would be kinda neat to be able to get the full features of such a AV Receiver through USB, without the pain that HDMI can sometimes bring, and at the same time also be able to use other HDMI devices like gaming consoles or video streaming boxes going to the same setup.

The XMC-1 is not a multichannel USB DAC.  It is a stereo USB DAC.  To send multichannel to the XMC-1, you must use HDMI.

Yup.  I argued with them about implementing MCH in USB but, I guess, it is still no-go.

I'm trying to use a Wyred4sound recovery USB re-clocker with JRiver/XMC-1, but when I connect the reclocker I get a message that ASIO cannot pass 44.1Khz.

Does anybody here use a wyred4sound reclocker with JRiver/XMC-1?

I can see the JRiver playing the file but no sound comes out of the speakers.

Is there a solution for that?
