Library Views on JRemote
« on: May 28, 2017, 02:18:36 pm »

I know this has been covered. I even copied the steps for the process. I have two "Library Views" that do show up on my iPad, iPhone. When I tried to create new ones today, they show up on MC but not on the iPad.

Could someone point me to explicit steps required to get more new Library Views on the iPad? From my notes there is a great deal of witch craft which I apparently have lost.

JRemote Views are totally separate from the other views in your library.  You can to add new views to the JRemote area, or remove them.  Note that once these views are added, they aren't linked in any way.  So if you have a normal view called "Albums" and you then add that to JRemote you'll see it there.  Later, if you make changes to Albums in MC's standard view, you will see those changes there. But when you go to JRemote, Albums will not reflect those changes.  Because they are totally separate.  If you want those changes in JRemote, you must remove the "old" Albums and then add in the newly modified one.

JRemote's views are configured here:

Tools > Options > Media Network > Advanced > Configure views for JRemote...

Good luck!

When I go to Options -> Media Network I do not see "Advanced". The only options under Media Network are:

Use Media Network to share this library and enable DLNA
,,, Read-only Authentication
> Client Options (when connected to a Library Server)

When I open "Client Options" the choices are:
X Auto sync with server
Play local file if one that matches Library Server file is found
X Show playback zones from the server on the client

> Audio Conversion
> Image Conversion

Well, that's odd, because, what you are describing is what you would expect to see if "Use Media Network to share this library..." was unchecked. Which begs the question, which MC is JRemote connecting to? You should see options like so below...

My configuration is, I believe, correct. See image.
The steps for making a Library View visible on JRemote - from the forum are:

1. Create Library View with selection criteria.
2. Exit MC
3. Run MC
4. Delete Library View and recreate it.

Restart JRemote and it should be visible. Again, I created twos of these some time ago but my recent attempts have been a failure.

Looks ok. You said earlier that you could not see "advanced", but, it's right there in the screen shot you provided above... Do you see it now?

Yes. The Advanced key shows up when you enable DLNA. If it is not enabled, the Advanced does not show up.
Has made no difference however.

Did you go into the configure JRemote menu?  ...and make changes there?  That's what you have to do for views to show up in JRemote.  Specifically:

1.  Make changes in "configure views for jremote".  Press ok to get out.
2.  Stop MC.  Restart MC.
3.  Hard stop JRemote.  Either kill it with the "swipe up" technique, or reboot the ipad.  Restart JRemote.

Then you should see whatever views you configured in step 1 above.

Good luck.
