Best Way To Delete Duplicates

(1/3) > >>

Bear with me as I am new to MC.
I have most of my music on a synology NAS originally uploaded through iTunes. MC has found many many duplicate songs. I can see them through a smart playlist. When I go to delete them, they always come back. Should I be using a different method to delete? Which of the three options should I choose? If I choose to delete to the recycling bin what does that actually do? Should my auto-import be configured differently? I'm pulling my hair out here. ANY help would be greatly appreciated. I've looked through most of wiki but can't seem to find anything specific to my problem. Does anyone know of any video tutorials?
Thanks again
Dan

JimH:
Welcome to the forum.  You are probably importing from a network share and a mapped drive that points to it.  Set up your auto-import settings to ignore one.

Thank you for the quick reply!
I will change those auto import settings.
Can you also please define the three options when deleting a track? I'm not at my computer but it was, send to recycling bin, delete from drive and one more. How do these effect the deletion process?
Thanks again
Dan

JimH:
One is a total, permanent delete.

One deletes, but moves the file to the recycle bin.

One just removes the file from MC's library.

Thanks again.
So, the first option will totally delete that track? Completely off the NAS?
Sorry, I guess I'm a little slow.
