Trouble ripping CD's

I am trying to rip CD's so I can add them to my iPod Classic. I keep getting an error message saying "The output directory could not be created for one or more files. Please double-check the output directory in the ripping options." Where do I find ripping options, and how do I fix this problem?

While looking at file locations, I figured out what the problem was. I save everything I rip to an external hard drive, which was not plugged into my laptop. When I plugged it in, the ripping process worked like normal. Thank you for the response!
