I have a server and several client machines (pcs and laptops). Been using it all just fine for about 2 years....

Just got a new laptop:
Lenovo 510s
i7-6500 2.5GHz
Intel 520 / AMD R7 M460
Win10 64
MC 22.0.108
JRMark 3308

Try to play any video files and all I get is black screen and audio playing. Local files or server library.

Play the same videos in WMP12 and they playback just fine!

Not saying this is a MC problem, because I also tried another player (zoomplayer) and it is also having the exact same black screen issue.

Happens on all video types: ts (mpeg2/avc), mp4, mkv, flv, mpg... basically everything!



EDIT: took all day, but finally got it. Set custom video renderer to VMR7.

Are they "protected"?  DRM?

Not protected channels (I know better)... they are:
- tv recordings made by MC server, playable on all clients for years.
- simple mp4, mkv, flv SAMPLES downloaded from internet, verified playable on other MC machines, verified playable in WMP.


I made some progress with ZoomPlayer. Changed the video renderer from EVR to Overlay, and the video now shows in ZoomPlayer, but did not change MC playback.

Completely new mc install on this laptop default/already set to ROS.

Strange. As a test I changed it to ROHQ, it downloaded MadVr... Now it plays SOME videos but not others:

-tv show ts (AVC) OK

-tv show ts (mpeg2) NO VIDEO

-sample mp4, mkv, flv OK

In case someone else comes across this, here is the answer:
-Tools
-Options
-Video
-General Video
-Video Mode => Advanced => Custom
-Custom Video Mode Settings
-Red October Standard
-Video Renderer => VMR7


Can now play mpeg2 ts, AVC ts, mkv, mp4, etc......

That may indicate a problem with madVR or with the video driver.

I agree it's some kind of system problem or incompatibility, given I had to customize the renderer in MC and ZoomPlayer. I completely updated all drivers/OS yesterday, before installing MC and ZP today. It's like this GPU is not able to use EVR at all, and VMR9 only partially works. I am able to use VMR9 Renderless w/Exclusive Fullscreen mode in ZP, but VMR9 modes does not work in in MC.
