Audio from line input

I have a turntable (with a built in preamp) connected to the line input of my sound card that I would like to play via JRiver.  Has anyone done this?  If so would you please tell me how to get it done.

In theory you can use File -> Open Live... -> ASIO Line-in. If your soundcard has no ASIO driver, you can use ASIO4All. Some people apperantly got this working. For me it was quite unreliable.
