We are currently using Media Center on two PC's without a server.

As you probably know, the default album art directory is a deep subfolder of the Windows /users directory. We want to relocate the album art directory on one of the two PC's from the default location (on an SSD) to another location (on hard drive). When attempting to do this in the rip options action window, warning are issued which I do not understand.

Can I safely relocate the album art directory on one of the PC's?

options > file location > cover art

make sure JRiver is pointing to the new location, once you change this it (should) save the image to the new location on rip

you *might* have to rebuild thumbnails after a move (maybe not...)

options > tree & view > thumbnails > build missing thumbnails

If you are going to put your Album Art on one of the PCs, it will need to always be available when the other PC is running MC, or you will run into trouble with art and thumbnails. If you are always running one PC for Album Art, you might as well be running a MC Server on that PC, instead of your current setup, as previously discussed.

If you want to maintain your current setup with two copies of MC with two libraries and no MC Server, I suggest that you put your Cover Art onto your NAS, in a location both PCs can find it. That will slow down MC a bit, particularly when it builds or rebuilds thumbnails, but it shouldn't' be too bad.
