JRiver is no longer functioning [working again]

Suddenly, JRiver will not function in audio mode.  No sound.  It appears to be playing but at one-fourth the speed, i.e., each second of play time requires almost exactly four seconds of wall time to increment.  It occurs with v22.110 and v23.21.  Re-booting doesn't help.

If this is a computer issue, I don't know what it would be.  This is brand new ill mannered behavior.

Power everything down and back up, including any devices.

That didn't work, but it just started again on its own.  Weird.
