Cover Art Management
« on: July 21, 2017, 10:07:43 am »

Is there a way to update cover art remotely from Panel or JRiver Clients?

If not, this is really the only thing holding me back from moving my JRiver server to the Pi ID. Thanks!

With Panel, no, but this is something we could look into adding in the future.

What about using an RDP or VNC client to remotely connect to the Id?

Is RDP or VNC possible with the IdPi? That sounds like a great solution.

Yes, either is possible for the NUC Id and IdPi. The default password is "remote" but you can change this from the Id main menu.

Hi - how did it work out? And which RDP or VNC client application did you use?

Hi Brad, any progress on plans to include covert art management in the Panel?

Other thought: can the internal disk of the Id not be Shared with Windows client/laptop, as I have experienced that the File Location for Cover Art must be local on the Id for the Thumbnails to build.

My goal is to use the Windows laptop (running MC23) for all metadata mgt and cover art mgt, so that I never need to plugin screen or keyboard/mouse on Id. I already load the Library of the Id on the Windows laptop; and tags management seems fine from laptop; but covert art mgt is still requiring me to do this on the Id...

I have all data on a NAS, which is mounted to Windows client and the Id.

Txs for advice,
Bas

There are no plans to add cover art management to Panel. Your best bet is to probably use an RDP or VNC client. If you have Windows 10, you can easily use the Remote Desktop Connection app built into Windows. It's in the Windows Accessories folder. Otherwise, a VNC client is easy to use as well. I have used TigerVNC viewer and UltraVNC viewer and both work fine with the Id. With any of these clients, all you need to do is provide the internal IP address of the Id and enter the remote access password, which is "remote" by default.
