Global keyboard shortcut for Play Doctor
« on: July 26, 2017, 10:21:55 am »

From the Play Doctor poll...
It's a great feature.  Would appreciate knowing (or if not, here's a request) if there's a keyboard shortcut to access it directly in MC 23.  It would also be nice to have in JRemote.
I have mine set so that Ctrl+Alt+R launches a Play Doctor playlist, it's a global shortcut, so the music just fires up, regardless of whether or not MC has focus.

How?
Close MC (and server if you use it)
Using Windows explorer, go to your MC program folder.
Go inside the folder called "Data" that you see there.
Create a new folder called "Custom Resources"
Attached to the end of this post, you will find a zip file. It contains a file called "Resource.xml". Download the file and extract Resource.xml to the "Custom Resources" folder you just created.

Start MC.
Press Ctrl+Alt+R

Enjoy.

Nice. Didn't know you could do that. I would have probably created a windows shortcut to MC23.exe /MCC 10047 and assigned it the keyboard shortcut.

I like the way you did it more. Seems cleaner and more part of MC that way.

Thanks, I think so too. The "Custom" folders and files within are preserved when updating MC, so it just keeps working (until a Windows update steals your shortcut Grrr.)

All you do when upgrading to a new build number (MC22 to MC23 fx) is remember to copy the "Custom" folder from the old Data folder to the new one, and your set for another full build cycle.
