JRemote/Id Feature Request: Enable Id Reboot
« on: August 07, 2017, 08:16:44 am »

JRemote has a function to restart the MediaCenter which works. It would be great if it could also reboot the whole device, the Id in my case, or to cause it to shutdown, if needed. It would make for a much smoother integration between these three JRiver products from at least this user's perspective.

You can reboot the Id from Panel.

Hi Jim, do you mean from this screen in JRemote (see attachment)? If so, the buttons labelled Shutdown, Restart, Sleep and Hibernate have no effect on my Id. The Restart button only restarts MC, but not the Id. Is this what you call the "Panel" or have I missed something? Thanks.

Panel is a webapp.  You can run it from any browser.

Ah, I see, I thought it was a feature of JRemote.

I would *much* prefer to have this a function of JRemote, especially as you already seem to have the UI in it for it (see my earlier screenshot). May I politely ask that you consider this a feature for the future update of JRemote, please? Many thanks.

OK, but it's not something we'll do soon.

Thank you for even considering it. In my view, I would have hoped that the integrated ecosystem of Id+JRemote+MC is something that matters to JRiver. If that is the case, such little niggles make a big usability difference.

Hey Jim - what's the overall prioritization of JRemote interally at JRiver?

Is it strictly or largely "maintenance" mode now and you guys are moving away from it over time?

We'd all stop submitting feature requests to you if we had some info on what the future holds for JRemote.

If I could add my 2p, JRemote is *the* reason I use Id and MC. I rarely use the desktop software, even though I buy its full license regularly—I only need it for occasional housekeeping. JRemote+Id is my playback system, and I wish it were developed further... There is no way I would be able to get the responsiveness, nor overall feel, from a web page running on Id, nor integration with iOS. Well, not for a few years, I think.

I agree! I love JRemote and it is a major bummer it doesn't get more love.

For example, I would love to see a linkable column option and a setting to search for audio only and discard video and images related materials in both search settings.

I'll chime in as well. I use both JRiver on the Id and JRemote. Most of my music listening is while I'm on the move and I bought the Id for the purpose of streaming to JRemote. It's a great app and I hope that JRiver is committed to further development.

Now, for my morning run. Me, Bruce Springsteen at the Hammersmith Odeon, and JRemote!

I would like to add my voice to continued support for JRemote. As is, it's a very well designed app, and is the heart of how I control my library. Even though it was pricey, for an app, I would purchase it again if it jumped a version number with new features. Please don't deprecate the app in favor of the web panel.
