Mystery on-screen icons
« on: October 20, 2017, 06:39:32 am »

Since updating to 64 bit MC 23.0.73, and perhaps coincidentally, two icons have started to appear in the bottom right corner of the screen whenever I watch any video. One looks like a microphone and the other like some sort of rewind button, but neither responds to left or right mouse clicks, nor can I see how to remove them. I'm obviously not a power user, so its possible I've unwittingly changed some setting. The icons are quite distracting, so any thoughts on how I might get rid of them would be appreciated.

Do you have Steam or any in game tool installed?
Sometime they consider the video mode as a game mode and shows this kind of icones.

Windows 10? Might be game mode enabling itself.

Sounds like the NVIDIA GeForce Experience Overlay.
I believe it's ALT+Z to bring up the overlay which should let you hide the OSD icons.
Or you can launch the GeForce Experience app to completely disable the overlay - though that will also disable ShadowPlay recording.

Thank you so much for all the tips. Yes, it was the NVIDIA GeForce Experience Overlay kicking in, and had nothing to do with JRiver MC23. Somehow I'd turned on Instant Replay and Microphone, quickly removed using ALT+Z as RD James suggested.
MC23 is working perfectly for me (touch wood). A great product and a great forum.
