Shuffling tuners around, currently only have 6. Looking at my TBR list:
- 5 recordings at 7pm with 2 minutes added to the ends.
- 3 recordings at 8pm (all different channels)

Looks like 8 tuners should be needed for a few minutes, so exactly what is going to happen? If only some of the recordings are going to happen, when and how is MC going to notify me? Or is it just going to not record something and leave me out of the loop until I look at the logs. Shouldn't it show up BEFORE in the TBR list or something  ?

Guess I will just find out when 8pm rolls around...

Has anyone ever seen a MC recording conflict message? Was it while you were scheduling it? What if it is a series that was scheduled weeks ago? What if you do the scheduling from a client in Standard mode? When does the conflict message supposedly pop up? Does it pop on the Server or client?

6. Changed: When scheduling television recordings, the conflict warning message will include name, channel, and start time of the conflicting programs.

...
2. The next one is about conflict resolution. MC now gives a warning when you schedule a recording with a time overlap to a previously scheduled recording. This is a HUGE improvement and will avoid lots of messed up recordings. Thanks JRiver! The issue now is that the alert message only says that there is a conflict, not what is the conflicting program.

When watching Live TV MC will give an alert message if you try to watch something when the tuner is busy with a recording. And that message says what the program is and allows you to make a choice of continuing to watch Live, or to switch to the other channel and make the recording. It would hopefully be a simple change to give the same message and choices when scheduling a recording. It would save having to leave you are in the Guide and would be a much nicer work flow....

Cheers,
Rod

It will be interesting to see what happens at 7:58pm!  (If the 8pm recordings also have 2 minutes added.)

Try editing one of the 8pm recordings if you want. I think you will see the message then, as MC will check when you try to save that recording.

I think MC actually evaluates recordings regularly and assigns or reassigns tuners. But if the recordings are all based on rules set up some time ago and not edited or saved recently, I don't think the message pops up when MC discovers an issue. There was some discussion on this quite a while back. Search search...

No warning messages popped on the Server. Here is what happened- at 7:59pm MC tv Log said the three shows that were supposed to start at 8pm "failed to start due to no idle tuner blah blah". But, at 8:02pm it showed the other recordings finished and then those three that failed actually fired up at 8:02pm! So I am missing 2 minutes at the beginning of those three shows (oh well).

I've got two minutes added to the ends of all my shows, zero to the beginnings. So, until I get my other tuner device installed, I'm gonna have to be extra careful with recording priorities and the two minute paddings.

New feature request - The TBR list should at least highlight shows that WILL have tuner conflicts like late starts, or no tuner available at all, etc.

The warning messages are shown at the time of scheduling, but I am not sure if they are shown for conflicts of a couple of minutes of padding time (but I think they are shown).

Other than the warning messages shown at the time of scheduling, MC would just try resolving the conflict according to the shows' priorities.  In your example, two of the three shows that were to start at 8 would be delayed until two tuners were freed by other recordings.

On the subject of tv recordings, can we have some kind of indicator in Theatre View to show when a recording is "in progress" please?

It would help to confirm that a recording is happening as programmed...

Since almost everyone sets up series rules, warning messages won't e ever be seen... Please add a way to visually see recording conflicts in the TBR listings.

Perhaps some icons next to the clock top right on the EPG page?

You might be interested in something similar, that is a LIST in Theaterview showing all the TBR shows with colored icons. To set it up see screenshots, add a Set Rules for File Display Custom => [=TVInfo(Record)]=[1]
