using Windows explorer to change 'artist' tag
« on: December 15, 2017, 11:00:23 am »

When I use MC to copy tracks to a USB drive for my car, I hate that my car media player lists by 'Artist' and not my personal preference 'Album Artist'.  For example, if I want to hear Neil Young's "Decade" my player will scatter the album relative to Neil Young, Buffalo Springfield, CSN&Y, ....

MC will not let me change the tag for what is on the USB drive, instead changing my library instead.  So I figured I'd be able to use Windows Explorer to change the tags before ejecting it.  The problem is Explorer shows "Album Artist" without showing "Artist", and I cannot figure out how to change what 'Explorer=>Properties=>Details' shows.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and know how to remedy it?

MC can change the tags on a USB

Is there a permissions issue or something?

Like I said above... MC want to change for the track in the library, not specifically for the track on the USB drive, even if the MC file listing is specifically inspecting the tracks on the USB drive...

I just think it’s strange for the Windows 7 file explorer to show ‘album artist’ in place of ‘artist’ without a way to show both or either(?)
