MC 23 Windows - handheld sync placing files in wrong folders
« on: October 29, 2017, 04:06:46 pm »

I have a folder called ALAC outputs which I have setup as a handheld device. I then use it to send a bunch of playlists and music to sync with my iPhone via iTunes. The problem is that when it syncs these shuffled playlists to the ALAC outputs folder, it places the songs in random folders. For example, mixing up tracks from Dire Straits albums with Mark Knopfler albums, which are in the same playlist. I have checked and these tracks are tagged correctly in terms of both Artist and Album Artist. I have tried changing the output file path between:
- Music\[Artist] - [Album]\
- Music\[Album Artist] - [Album]\
- Music\[Album Artist (auto)] - [Album]\

The files still get mixed up within each playlist. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

After further investigation I now see that most of the file names it generates are not what is actually in the file! For example, one track was named as a Mark Knopfler song, but when I open it in Kroger, it plays Communique, and all the tags are correct for Communique, only the file name says something different.

This is looking more like a bug...

Thanks Matt. Just did that. Reran the sync. Same jumbled results. To be sure I checked a different playlist output, a Fleetwood Mac mix. Same story. Random file names in the ALAC output folder.
