Hello
I have problem with epgcollector 09:54:28:808 <E> Exiting with code = 5.
I am in Taiwan working with DVB-T.
It cannot encode properly EPG I believe its Big5.
here is log file (I dont wish to overwhelm the log file so only some extract) rest in attachment

I have tried with enigma2 and other software but it wont display correctly, the only software that is capable to display the epg correctly is Arcsoft TotalMedia 3.5

It has been a while since I did any debugging of EPG Collector, so I am way out of practice. 

That is not a Media Center integration issue so the best place to get support for that type of problem with EPG Collector is the Help forum shown here: https://sourceforge.net/p/epgcollector/discussion/

The author, Steve Bickell, is very responsive to requests for help, and usually solves problems pretty quickly, if they can be solved.

Have you tried loading EPG directly inside MC (OTA option)?  I have never had any confirmation from any users whether EPG coded with BIG5 works inside MC, but we use a Microsoft provided tool to load various code pages.  If your computer has the code page, it may just work.

Okay, a few things then.

First, if you can create a new internet email, such as an Outlook.com account, and then set up a Sourceforge account using that, you will get much better help. Or if you can find the confirmation email in your junk email folder. Whatever method, getting Steve's help will make a big difference.

Second, you seem to be using EPG Collector 4.3 Fixpack 0, which is the base and first version of EPG Collector 4.3. You should update to EPGC 4.3 Fixpack 9, which includes the change: "Chinese is now available as an input language." The Fixpack is on the page https://sourceforge.net/projects/epgcollector/files/V4.3/ along with the Release Notes which have installation instructions for Fixpacks.

Third, before you provide any further logs to anyone, learn to clear the log in EPGC before you run a collection. You have several runs in the log you posted, and that just confuses the process and makes it more work to read it. Keep the run History, but clear the General log.

Finally, the last run in the log you posted looks pretty good, except signal strength isn't that good, and one channel couldn't be tuned in to collect the EPG data. The failure appears to be a Character Set problem and occurs when EPGC tries to write the output file. It is possible that Fixpack 9 will fix that, so try that first. If it doesn't, try to create a Sourceforge account and contact Steve. Otherwise, back here with a new clean log we shall see what we can do.

Regardless, let us know how you go, and if you get it working, answer Yaobing's question regarding whether the Big5 works inside MC using EPGC as the source, or using the built-in Over The Air EPG collection functionality.

Thank you , I have managed.

The thing is that I used to have my own mail server , just that few years ago I got lots of spammers attacking my server (40000 connections a day), and actually did not use mails for personal use. I switched to other systems, which are more efficient and trustworthy.
 
For SF I needed to have mail account, I tried yahoo.com but the yahoo. defaults to Chinese language and there is no option to change that. SF is very picky about the mail domain. nevertheless I managed.

I feel that the sender is sending wrong country code , from log looks like it is sending chi which i guess does not corresponds to standards, but i am not sure
