4K playback stopped working
« on: November 05, 2017, 10:53:09 am »

Not sure what happened, but I updated to the Windows 10 Fall creators update.  Using the 64-bit .80 build, 4K playback results in audio, HDR enabled, but no video.

I am rolling back windows Creators Update now as that is all that changed.  I already tried previous versions of JRiver where I knew this worked and that didn't resolve it either.

Curious if anyone else is having this issue

EDIT:

That worked!  So the Fall Creators Update breaks 4K playback.

Once uninstalled, all is back to normal.

On a side note - why do I bother with updates?  If it ain't broke, don't go messin' around.

I hate windows

After updating I had to reinstall my video drivers for things to work correctly.

what video card and driver version are you using?  i'm using an nVidia 1080TI.

and do you mean that 4K didn't work for you either until you (re)installed the video drivers?

I have a 1070. I was having problems running CUDA programs after the update and installing the latest driver from the GeForce website fixed it.
Might be what was causing problems for you with playback - especially if you were using LAV Video's CUVID decoder. (though that really shouldn't be used any more)

Thanks.

I may try again; my main reason for updating was that windows 10 Pro was crashing after a couple days every morning around 4-5am (rebooting) and the system event viewer didn't give me many details as to reason why.  now on the other hand, i didn't let it go long enough to determine if the fall creators update fixed that or not.

EDIT: I both tried the creators update and then latest nVidia drivers and same result.  4K Video broken.

rolling back the Fall Creators Update now...  *sigh*
