when I open the MC23 app, says update failed, makes me re sign eula

Sometimes, when I open the MC23  (23.0.20 ) app, it acts like I have updated the sw,
asks me to "agree" to Eula again.
Then says update failed.
Then I "cancel" and move on.

I am not asking for, nor do I want to update to any newer vrsion.
Should I disable auto updates?  says not recommended.
not sure why it would be checking / trying to update so often

ideas?

You're probably running the install file and not the program itself.

Why not update to the current version?
