Switch from PC to a Mac

I had to turn in my work Pc after buying the lat st version, I’m Mac based at home, can I switch over with ease or will I be required to purchase a new license?

It's not free unless you have a Master License.

You can use your Windows license to purchase an upgrade at a discount:

I had just purchased the new license 3 weeks prior for Windows, then I (and others) were let go and had to give but my PC. No way to get a discount or just be able to transfer to my Mac, since I have no Windows based PC's at home.
