not editing my id3 tags

i'm getting "failed to update the following files" on very many of my ID3 tag editing attempts. some are ripped from cd's, some are not. anybody?  (v 9.0.89)

Generally, that message comes up when you are either trying to add tags to a format that doesn't support being tagged, like .wav.  Or, for some reason, MJ is not able to write to the file.  Maybe they're marked as "read only" in Windows.  That happens if you copy MP3s from a cd-r to your hardrive.

yep, checked that. they're not read-only, and they're mp3's - only thing is i've just gotten a "subscript out of range" error in another app (a tag editing app) and upon further inv. some of these files seem to have been reduced to "0" file size - both downloads and ripped versions - is this a bug that has been noticed before in some form? i'm quite all right with a bug like this, i can replace the files; i know you guys are working them out...

From time to time i got the same problem from shop cds i rip.
I rip 20 cds ,and one of thenm ,or some tracks have this problem.
