UHD/HDR/3D Setup
rec head:
I just installed an Asus GTX1060 6GB to replace my GTX750Ti. Now I'm having some trouble getting everything setup. I feel like I'm just Googling in circles trying to figure it out.
Regular 1080P content is playing back without a problem at high settings.
3D content used to work now it does not. -Maybe because of desktop resolution?
I only have Deadpool UHD ripped and it drops a lot of frames and does not raise the HDR flag on my LG OLED.
MC version is 23.0.91
Nvidia drivers are the latest
Windows is up to date
madVR is updated to v0.92.10
In madVR settings I selected "passthrough HDR content to the display."
I am not using FSE mode.
Any help is appreciated.

I got Gigabit 1070 and LG E6 ... and went through what you going through now (journey not completed yet though)
On TV side ... All Settings -> General -> HDMI ULTRA HD Deep Colour ... turn on on HDMI port you using
Also on All Inputs I set HDMI port to PC
OS side ... in NVIDIA Control Panel ... I set my desktop on 3840x2160, 60hz, 8bpc, RGB Full output dynamic range ... also under Set Up Stereoscopic 3D I enable stereoscopic 3D (it took me through some calibration wizard)
I fiddle with MadVR a lot ... so to get from point zero, I restored MadVR setting to default ... %appdata%\J River\Media Center 23\Plugins\madvr ... default settings.bat
JRiver options -> Video -> Enable 3D BlueRay and MKV 3D decoding check
MadVR
Rendering -> delay playback check ... enable automatic full screen exclusive mode check
stereo3D -> enable stereo 3D check
At this point lots of ppl say 3D works for them
My 3Ds are MVC rips to mkv ... 3D was unpredictable for me at this point ... sometimes it went correctly to 1080p MVC (so can switch between 2D and 3D on television) ... sometimes it went 1080p but rendered SBS ... sometimes it went 4k with SBS
So I rename all my MKV to MK3D ... created profiles for display mode in MadVR under devices
If (fileExt = “mk3d”) “3D” else “Normal”
In 3D profile for display mode I only allow MadVR to switch to 1080p23 (as all BD 3D are in this format anyway)
In Nirnal profile I let that field blank
Now it works for me
For HDR .. in MadVR devices->hdr ... I set pass through ... TV switches to HDR when HDR rips are playing ... problem I have now ... TV stays in HDR once movie stops ... everything looks saturated ... have to quit JRiver for TV to restore SDR

From everything I have read so far, latest NVidia drivers still have issues with HDR. You should install 385.69

Thanks for the pointers. I'll try them as soon as I get a chance.
After some searching I did roll back my Nvidia driver 385.69. Now the TV recognizes that it is getting 3D but the image doesn't really look 3D. The image looks good with glasses on but it doesn't really look 3D. I tried several titles. It is weird. I also get non-3D material putting the TV into 3D mode and then switching out of it.
I can get the HDR notification on the TV but can't get the 4K video to play. I also have the same problem of HDR mode on the TV staying active and the colors being over saturated.
It is amazing how much time I waste on this stuff but the cold has me staying inside anyway.

What are your 3D files? mkv rips from BluRays (MVC encoded)? or side by side/top bottom stuff?
