Win10 Home versus Pro versus Enterprise etc.
« on: January 29, 2018, 02:48:34 am »

Hello

Are there any differences in running MC23 on Win10 HOME versus other version of Win 10 (Professional, Enterprise, etc.) ?
Can MC23 benefit from Win10 Professional ?

Thanks

I highly doubt there would be any differences with MC23.

On my MC Server I have the Pro Version to use Remote Desktop Management.

I have "Windows 10 Pro for Workstations" so I can format and manage ReFS drives (over NTFS), but no... the edition of Windows will make no difference to how MC works.

stay away from enterprise...it's intent is for business and the such and may have componets that are needed to insure a smooth install of MC or at the very least cause problems later down the road.

Honestly, it shouldn't matter that much if at all. All Windows 10 editions use the same codebase regardless of which edition is installed. For example when you "upgrade" from Home to Pro, all it does it just unlock existing features in the Windows 10 install instead of actually downloading and installing additional options, if I recall correctly.

The difference, however, is when you get into Windows Server OSes, which isn't recommended (or supported) by JRiver.

I have Win 10 ENT on all machines here - no issues at all with MC.

main reason i use pro is to control (stop) windows updates.

should not make a difference to MC
