No remote available for iOS <10.0
DJLegba:
I have an old iPod Touch running iOS 6.1.6, with JRemote installed and working. I believe it's still possible to get that release of JRemote from the Apple store.

I think the App Store allows you to re-download apps if you have previously purchased them, but not to purchase old versions of the same app.

Oh, sorry, I didn't think about that. My experience with the app store is limited. After I bricked an old iPad with the iOS 9 update I had to reformat and reinstall everything. When I tried to get JRemote again the app store told me the latest version wouldn't run on my iPad, but then it asked me if I wanted to download an older version. Of course the older version was what I had originally purchased. Too bad if it's no longer possible to buy, because JRemote is the only reason I continue to use that old iPad.

I cannot use JRemote ( my iPad is on IOS 9), however there are ways around that if you want to stick with JRiver.
1. Apps such as Creation's C5 or ArkMC will work on IOS 9 and IOS 7 respectively, if you set up a JRiver DLNA server within JRiver.
2. Install BubbleUPNP server on your Mac, create on OpenHome proxy of your JRiver server and then use the free IOS apps Lumin or Kazoo (I prefer Lumin) as the controller. (This Bubble route is more complex but it also allows you to stream Tidal or Qobuz - if you want to)
